Interested In Coaching? The Rocket & Flag program is only as good as our volunteers. With 25-30 Rocket teams and 20 flag football teams, we need 40-50 quality individuals to step up and volunteer as a head coach. If you have some football background, a teaching spirit, organizational skills, lots of patience, and a love for the game, we would love to have you consider volunteering. It's hard work, but what you take away from the experience and the impact that you have on the kids is nothing short of incredible. A couple of things to keep in mind. Coaching assignments are handled as equitably as possible, but because we often have more head coach volunteers at the Rocket level than available head coaching positions, head coaching positions are first given to those that have been a head coach in the program before and with favorable parent evaluations. If there are still head coach positions still available, positions are given randomly. Picking assistant coaches is the responsibility of each head coach. If You Are Volunteering For a Head Rocket Coach Position: Each coach is required to attend the pre-season coaches meeting, attend one of the PCA (Positive Coaching Alliance) sessions, and pass a background check. Check the meeting dates before you sign up to make sure you can make the required meetings. If you are selected as a Rocket coach, a league ID is required and the ID’s are only provided at the meetings. Sign up forms are available online and they are available at each sign-up. You will be contacted by the Field Director only if you are selected to be a head coach. If You Are Volunteering For a Assistant Rocket Coach Position: Assistant Coaches are always selected by the head coach but we can suggest some things to improve your chances. ALL Rocket coaches are required to attend one of PCA meetings. Assistant Rocket Coaches are encouraged but not required to attend the Preseason Coaches Meeting. If You Are Volunteering For a Flag Coaching Position: Flag head football coach must attend a pre-season coaches meeting. All Flag coaches (head and assistants) must pass a background check. | Volunteer RegistrationRegistering to coach in the Rockford Rocket or Flag Program can be done online or at sign ups as they have been in the past.
Regardless of how you register, we need the following information from each coaching volunteer:
Each of these documents are required to coach. The background check and ethical standards documents are both available here, and they'll also be available if you sign up in person at the High School.
If forms or copy of the drivers license need to be mailed, mail it to:
